The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has emphasised that electricity tariffs for the third quarter of 2026, covering July to September, will not undergo any increases. A primary reason for this decision is to safeguard the purchasing power of the public.

The Directorate General of Law Enforcement (Ditjen Gakkum) of the Ministry of ESDM stated that the government is also providing electricity subsidies and compensation to ensure that the energy needs of the population are met.

“Electricity prices are not rising. The government ensures that electricity tariffs remain stable as an effort to maintain public purchasing power, support industrial competitiveness, and preserve economic stability,” wrote @ditjen.gakkumesdm in an Instagram post on Friday (4/9/2026).

In determining the electricity tariffs for this period, the government considered four main parameters: the Rupiah exchange rate against the US Dollar, the Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and the Indonesian Coal Reference Price (HBA). Based on these calculations, tariffs should have increased; however, to protect purchasing power, the government has chosen to maintain the current rates.

“According to the Tariff Adjustment formula, changes in these parameters should have driven a tariff increase. However, the Government has decided to keep tariffs fixed to maintain public purchasing power, support industrial competitiveness, and provide certainty for business actors,” added Ditjen Gakkum.

The government noted that the last electricity tariff increase occurred in July 2022 for household customers in the 3,500 VA and above category, as well as for government sectors. Meanwhile, there were no increases for other categories.

Furthermore, not only are tariffs remaining fixed, but the government is also providing support through electricity subsidies and compensation for low-income communities.

“Electricity subsidies are provided to the public, particularly poor households, to ensure that basic energy needs are met at a more affordable cost. Electricity compensation is provided to non-subsidised customers when tariffs are not raised to their economic price levels,” concluded Ditchen Gakkum.

Below is the list of electricity tariffs for 13 non-subsidised customer categories during the third quarter of 2026:
