Government Funds in Banks Begin Gradual Withdrawal by Purbaya, Moved to BI
The Ministry of Finance has confirmed that the Excess Budget Balance (SAL) funds held in Himbara banks are being reabsorbed by Bank Indonesia.
This was stated by the Director General of Treasury at the Ministry of Finance, Astera Primanto Bhakti, when met by reporters at his office on Wednesday (23/06/2026).
“It is being carried out gradually,” he said when asked about the transfer of SAL funds from Himbara banks to Bank Indonesia.
Prima noted that the transfer has already been initiated by Himbara banks. “It has been done,” he confirmed to reporters.
Previously, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa revealed that the remaining Excess Budget Balance (SAL) under management is approximately Rp 420 trillion, although a portion is currently placed within the banking sector.
He detailed that the government had placed Rp 300 trillion of the SAL in banks, while another Rp 100 trillion remains in Bank Indonesia.
“Of the Rp 200 trillion placed in banks, I am adding another Rp 100 trillion, leaving the remaining Rp 100 trillion in BI,” Purbaya stated during a working meeting with Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Monday (06/04/2026).
