Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Perkasa Roeslani reported to President Prabowo Subianto that investment interest in Indonesia remains high, despite global geopolitical and geo-economic turbulence resulting from the Iran war.

“Despite the current situation with the war, global geopolitics, and global geo-economics, their (foreign investors’) interest in investing in Indonesia is very high, still very good, and this is evidenced by the investments coming in, which are still in line with our plans,” said Rosan in response to reporters’ questions at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/4) evening after meeting with the President.

Rosan further explained that this high investment interest is evident from the results of President Prabowo’s recent overseas visits to several countries, including Japan and South Korea. Subsequently, investments are also flowing from Singapore and China.

From the results of the President’s overseas visits, Rosan conveyed that the investment potential gathered from Japan is believed to approach $30 billion. Meanwhile, from South Korea, the investment potential reaches around $10 billion.

“So, Alhamdulillah, it’s quite good, very good indeed. China’s investments remain high as well, which will enter our country in various sectors, together with us. Their investments are also very well maintained and very good,” said Rosan, who admitted that he had just returned from Singapore and China.

Amid this positive investment trend, President Prabowo has instructed Rosan to maintain a conducive investment climate domestically.

“Don’t let our regulations become obstacles, our rules that hinder. Earlier, the President mentioned the investment climate in Indonesia; we need to benchmark it with ASEAN countries, OECD regulations, and others,” said Rosan, relaying the President’s directives.
