Government Focuses on Security Preparations Ahead of Execution of Sultan Hotel Land in GBK

The government is currently focusing on preparing security measures ahead of the execution to vacate Block 15 in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex, Central Jakarta, which is the area of the Sultan Hotel, in the near future.

The legal representative of the Minister for State Secretariat (Mensesneg) and the Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre (PPKGBK), Kharis Sucipto, stated that preparations for the execution are being carried out intensively.

“All coordination and technical preparations, particularly for the security of the execution, are proceeding intensively,” said Kharis when contacted by Kompas.com via short message on Wednesday (6/5/2026).

He only emphasised that the execution will take place in the near future.

“We ask for support from all members of the public so that the recovery of this state asset can proceed well in accordance with the applicable legal guidelines,” added Kharis.

Meanwhile, the legal representative of PT Indobuildco, the manager of the Sultan Hotel complex, Hamdan Zoelva, has not yet responded regarding the plan to execute the land in the Sultan Hotel area.

The government and PT Indobuildco have long been in dispute over ownership of the land.

Kompas.com has sent questions via short message and attempted to contact Hamdan Zoelva by telephone.

However, until this news was written, there has been no response from the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.

Kompas.com also confirmed the plan to execute the land to another lawyer for PT Indobuildco, Chandra Hamzah, but there has also been no response.

That determination grants the request for the implementation of the execution to vacate Block 15, submitted by Mensesneg and PPPK GBK through their legal representative.

“The Central Jakarta District Court assesses that the request for the implementation of the execution to vacate is in accordance with the law and therefore issues a determination for the implementation of the execution to vacate,” said the legal representative of Mensesneg and PPKGBK, Kharis Sucipto, in a press statement from PPKGBK confirmed by Kompas.com on Monday (4/5/2026).

That determination from the Central Jakarta District Court serves as the legal basis for the State Secretariat and PPKGBK to vacate the land and buildings in the Sultan Hotel area.
