Jakarta (ANTARA) – Sony Sulaksono Wibowo, a member of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) at the Ministry of Public Works, said the government was finalising the regulatory framework to accelerate toll road integration.

He said harmonisation of the draft ministerial regulation was expected to be completed soon. It would then be signed by the Minister of Public Works, providing the basis for implementation of the integration.

“We hope harmonisation will be completed shortly and the ministerial regulation can be signed soon so that toll road integration can be implemented. The aim is to ease traffic by distributing vehicles more evenly and making the best use of interconnected road sections,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

Sony explained that toll road development had been planned as a single network under the 2020–2040 National Toll Road Network General Plan. However, he said differences in construction sequencing, delays to connecting sections and tariff disparities had left some sections congested, while alternative routes remained underused.

He added that plans to integrate the Cibitung–Cilincing Toll Road, the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road and the Tanjung Priok Access Toll Road (ATP) were expected to include aligning tariffs along the corridor. This would help improve freight access between industrial areas and Tanjung Priok Port.

Meanwhile, an online survey by the Forum Konsumen Berdaya Indonesia (FKBI) found that 74.1 per cent of respondents supported toll tariff integration.

The survey’s findings were seen as a basis for accelerating the completion of the regulation and integration studies.
