The plan to establish the Indonesian International Financial Centre (PFII) received a positive response from hundreds of prospective global investors at a meeting held in Nusa Dua, Bali.

Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani noted that attendance exceeded the initial target of invitations sent to 70 parties in the Asian region.

“We invited 70 for Asia, but 110 came and the response, thank God, I can say was actually very positive,” said Rosan Roeslani.

Despite the positive response, global investors continued to highlight the importance of institutional governance readiness. They sought assurance that the format and structure of the PFII would truly meet international operational standards.

In response, the government pledged to maintain transparency and to hold regular outreach sessions. The establishment of the PFII is being designed professionally, prioritising the principle of independence across all lines of management, supervision, and legal process.

“In essence, everything in the PFII must be independent. So the management is certainly independent, then the courts, although still cooperating with the Supreme Court, the stages must also be independent, then the OJK as well, the OJK is independent,” explained Rosan Roeslani.

So far, exploration of potential global fund attraction has focused only on investors in the Asian region. However, the government projects that greater investor fund potential lies in the Middle East, particularly Dubai.

“Those we have met are only investors or family offices from Asia first. Not yet Europe, not yet the Middle East. In fact, the big potential is mostly from Dubai,” said Rosan Roeslani.

To strengthen the investment scheme, the government is adopting substantial input and frameworks from the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), which is considered highly relevant.
