Manpower Minister Yassierli has stated that the government is currently in the final stages of budget finalisation ahead of the 2026 National Internship Programme (MagangHub). “The current condition, of course, the final phase is related to the budget. This is now being finalised, and we are still waiting for the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of the State Secretariat. That is the picture of the current situation for the preparation of the second batch of the National Internship Programme,” Yassierli revealed during a press conference at the Ministry of Manpower’s office in Jakarta on Thursday. He further emphasised that the allowance for this year’s National Internship participants will still be fully borne by the government, without burden sharing with partner companies, as had been previously discussed. “There was an initial discourse that the participants’ allowance would be shared with partner companies. But in the end, we decided it would be the same as the first batch of the National Internship. So it is 100 percent borne by the government,” said Yassierli. Additionally, the Manpower Minister explained that the government has also confirmed the number of participants, who are fresh graduates from higher education institutions, for the second batch of the National Internship in 2026 will be 150,000 people. “The results of the inter-ministerial meeting, in principle, we have agreed that, first, there is an increase in the number of participants, which was initially 100,000 in 2025, then 150,000 participants in 2026,” the Minister said. Meanwhile, the first phase of the 2026 National Internship is planned to commence in July with an initial target of around 50,000 participants. The programme will subsequently be implemented in stages until the established national target is met.
