Government examines investment opportunities amid US-Israel and Iran conflict

Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Perkasa Roeslani said the government continues to study new investment opportunities amid the escalation between the United States-Israel and Iran. He argued that every global development can be viewed from different angles and asked whether it creates new opportunities in investment or trade; the government always conducts a comprehensive assessment of its impacts. Rosan stressed that the government consistently evaluates global situations from various aspects, ranging from investment and economic resilience to the stability of other sectors. Cross-ministerial coordination is also carried out intensively to ensure that economic growth remains safeguarded amid global uncertainty. He noted that investment makes a major contribution to the national economy, so strengthening the business climate is a priority. The government, Rosan said, also continues to maintain fiscal discipline, promote exports, and ensure that strategic projects continue to progress. On precautionary steps, Rosan said discussions involve various stakeholders, including technical ministries and related agencies. The government ensures that all impact scenarios, both short- and medium-term, are carefully considered. “We will certainly study all of it, perhaps in terms of investment, economic resilience and others,” he added. President Prabowo Subianto summoned several ministers to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon to attend a limited meeting to discuss several issues related to food, energy, and agendas during Ramadan through to Eid al-Fitr. Ministers who had arrived at the Palace by 16:00 WIB included Coordinating Minister for Food Security Zulkifli Hasan, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM and CEO of Danantara Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, and Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology and Head of the Mineral Industry Agency Brian Yuliarto. Several ministers, when asked about the afternoon’s agenda, said they would report according to their respective portfolios.
