Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has confirmed that facilities and infrastructure at Integrated People’s School (SRT) I in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, are ready to support student learning. “We must ensure the facilities and infrastructure are truly ready to support the students’ education,” Minister Dody said during an inspection of the SRT I development in Oelnasi Village, Kupang Regency, on Friday. He noted that some buildings have been completed and urged that the remaining construction, particularly access roads to the school, be finished promptly to ensure all teaching and learning activities can proceed smoothly. A five-kilometre access road from the main Timor Raya road will be repaired and upgraded to provide better access. Dody stated that SRT 1 Kupang Regency serves as an example of the accelerated operationalisation of the People’s School Programme, which is not only ready for use but is also being continuously improved to provide students with proper educational facilities. The development of People’s Schools, he added, is not just about constructing school buildings but also about ensuring all supporting infrastructure is available so that students can learn in a decent and high-quality environment. SRT 1 Kupang Regency is built as an integrated educational campus serving primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary levels with a boarding school concept. The campus is equipped with various educational and supporting facilities, including primary, junior, and senior school buildings, male and female dormitories, teacher flats, a library, computer laboratory, language laboratory, science laboratory, health unit room, counselling room, canteens for each level, a communal kitchen, multipurpose hall, place of worship, sports field, and utility support such as a power house, pump house, and waste management facility. Other buildings, including the primary school block, dormitories, and teacher flats, are being completed in stages without disrupting school operations, which commenced on 13 July 2026. Minister Dody expressed his appreciation to all parties for their hard work in making SRT 1 Kupang Regency operational. Work is currently underway to improve access to the school area by upgrading approximately five kilometres of road, including the main route and an alternative path, with completion targeted for August 2026.
