Government ensures SRT Kupang facilities ready for student learning
“We must ensure that the facilities and infrastructure are truly ready to support the pupils’ learning.”
Kupang (ANTARA) - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo has assured that the facilities and infrastructure at Integrated People’s School (SRT) I in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT), are fully ready to support pupils’ learning at the school.
“We must ensure that the facilities and infrastructure are truly ready to support the pupils’ learning,” said Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo while reviewing the construction progress of SRT I in Oelnasi Village, Kupang Regency, on Friday.
He said that several buildings have already been completed, and he requested that those still under construction be finished promptly, particularly the access road to the school, so that all teaching and learning activities can run smoothly.
Therefore, he continued, the five-kilometre access road from the main Timor Raya road will be repaired and upgraded for greater comfort. “We will repair the five-kilometre road so that access to the school is smooth,” said Dody.
He said SRT 1 Kupang Regency serves as an example of the accelerated operationalisation of the People’s School Programme, which is not only ready for use but is also being continuously improved so that all students receive proper educational facilities.
According to him, the development of the People’s School does not merely deliver school buildings, but also ensures that all supporting infrastructure is available so that pupils can learn in a decent and quality environment.
SRT 1 Kupang Regency was built as an integrated education complex serving primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary levels, with a boarding school concept.
The complex is equipped with various educational and supporting facilities, including primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary school buildings, boys’ and girls’ dormitories, teachers’ flats, a library, computer laboratory, language laboratory, science laboratory, school health room, counselling room, canteens at each level of education, communal kitchen, multipurpose hall, places of worship, sports field, and supporting utilities such as a power house, pump house, and Waste Processing Site (TPS).
Meanwhile, several other buildings, such as the primary and junior secondary school buildings, dormitories, teachers’ flats, and other supporting facilities, are being completed in stages without disrupting the school’s operations, which began on 13 July 2026.
Minister Dody expressed appreciation to all parties who have worked hard so that SRT 1 Kupang Regency is already functional.
Work is currently being prepared to improve access to the school complex by repairing approximately five kilometres of road covering the main route and an alternative route. The work is targeted for completion in August 2026.
