Government Ensures No Increase in Subsidised Fuel and LPG Prices

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government has decided not to raise the prices of subsidised fuel (BBM) or subsidised LPG, despite continuing fluctuations in global oil prices caused by geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia affirmed that the government will maintain the prices of subsidised fuel and subsidised LPG in accordance with the decision already established.

“We can confirm that there will be no increase in the price of subsidised fuel, in line with what has already been decided. So there is no increase for subsidised fuel, including subsidised LPG,” said Bahlil after a limited meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He stated that national energy stocks, such as fuel and LPG, are currently in a safe condition or meet the national minimum standards.

Nevertheless, Bahlil acknowledged that global oil prices remain volatile. According to him, this is partly triggered by the unresolved geopolitical situation.

“The geopolitical war in the Middle East has not yet ended, but we can convey that our fuel and crude oil stocks are, God willing, above the national minimum standards, including LPG conditions. However, prices continue to fluctuate, as they do in global markets,” he explained.

Currently, subsidised fuels such as pertalite and diesel have not experienced any price increase. The subsidised price of pertalite remains at around Rp10,000 per litre, while biodiesel remains at Rp6,800 per litre.
