Government Ensures Hotel Sultan Employees to Join New Management

The government has assured that all Hotel Sultan employees will be incorporated into the new management of Block 15 in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Complex.

The Secretary of the State Secretariat Ministry (Setneg), Setya Utama, affirmed that the government will prioritise empathy towards those affected by the previous management’s actions.

“The state is ready to step in and will embrace employees. We fully understand the workers’ concerns and invite them to join the transitional management that we are preparing,” he said in a written statement released on Monday, 2 March.

Setya emphasised that the ongoing dispute is being pursued by the state not against the workers but against Indobuildco corporation, which has failed to pay royalties.

“Not against the workers. Employee welfare is part of our commitment in the revitalisation of this area going forward,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of the GBK Complex Management Centre, Rakhmadi Afif Kusumo, assured that the government will implement the court decision with principles of good governance.

This was stated following the decision by the State Administrative Court of Appeal (PT TUN) in Jakarta to overturn the lower court’s ruling in the case filed by PT Indobuildco in appeal Number 13/B/2026/PT.TUN.JKT.

He noted that the PT TUN decision issued on Thursday, 26 February, significantly strengthened the legal basis for the government’s process of salvaging and managing state assets in Block 15 GBK.

“This decision reinforces the legal clarity that previously existed. PPKGBK is obligated to ensure state assets are managed in accordance with applicable laws for the greatest public benefit,” he said.

He added that every step taken will be carried out professionally, accountably, and measurably, with the primary focus of ensuring the area’s management proceeds orderly and provides optimal benefits to the public.
