Government Ensures Data Security in Digitalisation of Social Protection Programmes

The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has stated that the government is working to ensure the security of the digitalisation of the Social Protection Programme (Perlinsos). The government is implementing provisions of Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection in the digitalisation of Perlinsos. Mira Tayyiba, Director General of Digital Government at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi), told ANTARA on Thursday that the ministry is cooperating with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) to implement cybersecurity protocols at every stage of data exchange. “This effort is realised through strict access restrictions and the use of secure and reliable communication infrastructure, so that the confidentiality, integrity, and protection of all information is maintained throughout the process,” she explained. Furthermore, the Perlinsos Portal is designed to implement the principle of data minimisation and a consent mechanism. “During registration, citizens are openly informed and asked to give consent that their personal data will be used and sent to relevant agencies, with strict limitations only for the purposes of analysis and determining eligibility for social assistance,” Mira said. As data owners, citizens are advised to be cautious when sharing and using personal data while accessing digital services. Mira urged the public to rely on official government channels, typically using the “.go.id” domain, to access government services. Citizens are also advised not to trust parties offering assistance in obtaining government social aid in exchange for payment, as the government does not charge any fees for the implementation of social protection programmes. Furthermore, the public is asked to be vigilant if directed to suspicious links and asked to enter personal data such as bank account numbers.
