Government Ensures Adequate Fuel Stocks During Ramadan–Lebaran 2026
Indonesia’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has stated that the national stock of petroleum fuels remains safe throughout Ramadan and Lebaran 2026. He said the availability of fuel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is assured to meet public needs during the period, despite global geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East, including tensions around the Hormuz Strait. “Our stock of fuel ahead of Idul Fitri, God willing, is all safe, including LPG. So there is no need for doubt, even though there are global dynamics in Iran and Israel,” he said. Non-subsidised fuel prices will continue to follow the market mechanism as regulated by government policy. “For prices of non-subsidised fuel, that is indeed market-driven and in line with Ministerial Regulation of 2022,” he said. According to Bahlil, the government will monitor conditions on the ground to ensure energy distribution runs smoothly. “We must monitor all developments related to Lebaran readiness, especially energy; there must be no shortages of fuel, and LPG too,” he said on Wednesday (5 March 2026). He explained that the move is intended to strengthen Indonesia’s energy reserves. “That’s why now we have the President’s directive to immediately build storage. So it’s not that we don’t have reserves to fill oil, but where to store them.” Citing migas.esdm.go.id, Indonesia officially became an associate member of the IEA in 2015, after previously being regularly invited since 2011. Through this cooperation, Indonesia is involved in various energy development programmes, including the strengthening of clean energy and renewable energy.
