Government Endeavours to Provide Safe and Comfortable Tourism During Lebaran Holiday
Jakarta — Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism is endeavouring to provide tourism activities that are safe, comfortable, and enjoyable during the 2026 Lebaran holiday period.
The Minister of Tourism has issued a circular directive concerning the organisation of safe, comfortable, and enjoyable tourism activities during the Idul Fitri 1447 H/2026 M holiday to encourage all relevant stakeholders to optimise services for tourists.
“The circular directive contains appeals to regional governments, destination managers, and all parties to prepare destinations for the Lebaran period,” said Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana in a statement to ANTARA from Jakarta on Sunday.
According to her, the issuance of the circular directive aims to ensure the implementation of hygiene, health, safety, and environmental conservation protocols in accordance with risk-based tourism business standards under the Minister of Tourism Regulation Number 6 of 2025.
Additionally, the Tourism Minister has appealed to tourism destination managers to follow technical guidelines for implementing risk management at tourism destinations.
Destination managers have been asked to identify tourist attractions vulnerable to disasters and to prepare early warning systems, mitigation facilities, evacuation routes, and evacuation signage.
Widiyanti stated that by 27 February 2026, 35 provincial governments had submitted data on disaster-prone tourism destinations.
The Disaster-Prone Tourism Destination Database encompasses 4,748 tourist attractions, comprising 327 destinations with high vulnerability levels, 1,570 destinations with moderate vulnerability levels, 718 destinations with low vulnerability levels, and 2,133 destinations whose status has not yet been identified.
In preparation for the Lebaran holiday, officials from the Ministry of Tourism have inspected tourism sites to ensure that managers have prepared facilities and services to accommodate the expected increase in tourist visits.
