Government distributes phase II funds for repairing disaster-affected houses
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government has channelled stimulus funds for repairing damaged houses in phase II to communities affected by disasters in Aceh Tamiang Regency to accelerate the repair of homes impacted by the hydro-meteorological disaster in Sumatra, particularly those with light and moderate damage.
According to a written statement from the PRR Task Force, the aid distribution took place in a hybrid format from the Aceh Tamiang Regent’s Office Complex, Aceh. The handover was led by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno, accompanied by Interior Minister (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian.
The two also witnessed virtually the handover of aid for repairing damaged houses in Central Tapanuli Regency, led by the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto.
Previously, the government had distributed phase I aid on 13 February 2026, led by Menko PMK Pratikno from North Tapanuli, followed by the Interior Minister in Aceh Tamiang and the BNPB Head in Lhokseumawe.
In his explanation, the Interior Minister, who also serves as Chair of the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Kasatgas PRR) Post-Sumatra Disaster, emphasised that the government has prepared a structured aid scheme from the outset based on the level of damage to residents’ homes, ranging from light, moderate, to severe or lost.
For lightly and moderately damaged houses, he said, aid is provided through the respective BNPB in the amount of Rp15 million and Rp30 million. Meanwhile, handling of severely damaged houses is carried out through various schemes, including the construction of temporary housing (huntara) and permanent housing (huntap) involving ministries, agencies, and support from non-governmental parties.
“Our principle is to provide aid as quickly as possible, as quickly as possible, why? So that those affected can truly repair their homes and regain their spirits,” said Tito.
He explained that the government is implementing a phased data collection system so that aid can be channelled immediately without waiting for the entire affected area to be fully surveyed. This step is deemed important to prevent homes that were initially lightly or moderately damaged from worsening due to delays in handling.
On the other hand, the government continues to open opportunities for submissions in subsequent phases for communities that have not yet been recorded, still through a strict verification process to ensure aid reaches the right targets.
“Thus, we hope that all those affected can truly receive aid from the government,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Menko PMK Pratikno explained that the total aid provided in Aceh Tamiang and Central Tapanuli on this occasion amounted to Rp117.96 billion to around 4,469 household heads (KK), both those with lightly and moderately damaged homes.
He revealed that to date, the total aid provided by the central government to communities in the three affected provinces amounts to Rp654.87 billion for 29,786 KK.
“This is aid for lightly and moderately damaged houses for the three provinces. So, ladies and gentlemen present here, please use this aid well,” Pratikno clarified.
