Government Distributes 100,000 Food Packages Worth Rp 30 Billion to Jakarta Residents

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The government distributed 100,000 food aid packages worth Rp 30 billion to residents of DKI Jakarta in the National Monument (Monas) area on Saturday (28/3/2026). The aid was provided by deploying two state-owned enterprises (BUMNs) in the food sector, PT Perum Bulog and ID Food. “The price (value of the food packages) is estimated at Rp 300,000, so the total from this food aid is Rp 300,000 per package,” said Rizal when met in the Monas area, Jakarta, on Saturday. Rizal stated that the food aid consists of 5 kilograms of premium Bulog rice branded Befood, 1 kilogram of chicken meat, 1 kilogram of layer chicken eggs, 1 litre of premium cooking oil, and 1 can of sardines. In addition, the State Palace also distributed door prizes in the form of conventional bicycles and electric bicycles to residents who won the draw. The aid was given to recipients who had obtained coupons from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. The TNI Army general retiree admitted that the composition of the aid packages provided was determined by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. This aid is expected to prevent the public from panic buying due to fears of being affected by a food crisis resulting from the Israel and United States war against Iran in the Gulf region. “Then after Eid, the government will continue to pay attention to the public, so that people can live comfortably and ensure prices remain affordable,” said Rizal. Currently, the Government Rice Reserves (CBP) stock in Bulog warehouses has even reached 4.3 million tons, the highest since Indonesia’s independence. “It can guarantee needs until the end of the year,” Rizal added. Besides rice, Rizal said the cooking oil stock is also available in safe quantities.
