Government Dispatches 1,476 Young Patriots to 53 Transmigration Areas
The government, through the Ministry of Transmigration, has dispatched 1,476 young patriots to 53 transmigration areas across various regions to carry out research, studies and assistance based on science and technology.
Head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom) Muhammad Qodari, in a video statement received on Wednesday, said the young patriots were recruited from 10 universities as part of efforts to accelerate the development of transmigration areas.
“The government, through the Ministry of Transmigration, has recruited and dispatched 1,476 young patriots from the Patriot Expedition Team to 53 transmigration areas to carry out research, studies and assistance based on science and technology,” said Qodari.
He explained that the programme is a continuation of the 2025 Patriot Expedition Team, which previously deployed 2,000 outstanding human resources to transmigration areas.
In 2026, the government has again assigned 1,476 outstanding graduates to 53 transmigration areas, ranging from Salor in South Papua, Selaut in Aceh, Lunang Silaut and Muara Takung Kamang Baru in West Sumatra, Batu Betumpang in the Bangka Belitung Islands, to Barelang in the Riau Islands.
“This partnership is a continuation of the 2025 Patriot Expedition Team. In 2026, the partnership has expanded to include Airlangga University, Brawijaya University and Hasanuddin University,” he said.
He said partner universities assist with administrative verification, selection and provide academic support to participants prior to deployment. During their assignments, each university also provides assistance to the area serving as the research location.
Qodari said the programme is expected to turn transmigration areas into applied research laboratories that produce policy recommendations for area planning, construction and development.
“This programme is expected to make transmigration areas applied research laboratories that produce concrete policy recommendations for the planning, construction and development of areas accompanied by academics,” he said.
According to Qodari, the research results of the Patriot Expedition Team will become material for policy recommendations to be followed up on continuously to support the development of transmigration areas and improve community welfare.
He expressed hope that collaboration between the government, universities and communities can drive transmigration areas to grow into new centres of economic growth that are competitive, sustainable and capable of improving community welfare.
