Government Dispatches 1,476 Young Patriots to 53 Transmigration Areas

The government, through the Ministry of Transmigration, has sent 1,476 young patriots to 53 transmigration areas in various regions to carry out research, studies, and mentoring based on science and technology. Head of the Government Communication Body (Bakom) RI Muhammad Qodari stated that the young patriots were recruited from 10 universities as part of efforts to accelerate the development of transmigration areas. “The government, through the Ministry of Transmigration, has recruited and dispatched 1,476 young patriots from the Patriot Expedition Team to 53 transmigration areas to conduct research, studies, and mentoring based on science and technology,” Qodari said. He explained that the programme is a continuation of the 2025 Patriot Expedition Team, which previously deployed 2,000 excellent human resources to transmigration areas. In 2026, the government is again assigning 1,476 excellent human resources to 53 transmigration areas, ranging from Salor in South Papua, Selaut in Aceh, Lunang Silaut and Muara Takung Kamang Baru in West Sumatra, Batu Betumpang in the Bangka Belitung Islands, to Barelang in the Riau Islands. “This partnership is a continuation of the 2025 Patriot Expedition Team. In 2026, the partnership expands to include Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Brawijaya, and Universitas Hasanuddin,” he noted. He said the partner universities assist with the administrative verification process, selection, and provide academic support to participants before their departure. During the assignment, each university also mentors the areas designated as research locations. Qodari stated that the programme is expected to turn transmigration areas into applied research laboratories that produce policy recommendations for area planning, development, and growth. “This programme is expected to make transmigration areas into applied research laboratories that produce tangible policy recommendations for the planning, development, and growth of areas mentored by academics,” he said. According to Qodari, the research results from the Patriot Expedition Team will serve as material for policy recommendations that are followed up sustainably to support the development of transmigration areas and improve community welfare. He expressed hope that collaboration between the government, universities, and the community can encourage transmigration areas to grow into new, competitive, and sustainable centres of economic growth capable of improving public welfare.
