Government Disburses Rp 985 Billion for Irrigation Development in Banten
Farmers in Banten have stated that irrigation problems have been neglected for approximately 30 years. To address this, the central government and the Banten Provincial Government have disbursed funds totalling Rp 985.19 billion to construct and rehabilitate irrigation networks.
Abeng, 60, Chairman of the Water Users Association (P3A) in Lebak Regency, said that irrigation had been overlooked for around three decades. He noted that conflicts frequently occurred among farmers competing for water supply from the Cikoncang Ketapang Weir.
“In the past, during the second planting season, there were always disputes over water. Those who did not get water were angry, and those who did were worried. This has been happening since the 1980s,” he said on Wednesday (15/7/2026).
President Prabowo Subianto issued Presidential Instruction Number 2 of 2025 concerning the Acceleration of Development, Improvement, Rehabilitation, and Operation and Maintenance of Irrigation Networks to Support Food Self-Sufficiency. This allows the central government to allocate significant funds for irrigation projects in the regions.
“The synergy of funding between the central government through the state budget and the Banten Provincial Government through the regional budget is now bringing real change to one of the nation’s food baskets,” said Arlan Marzan, Head of the Banten Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency.
Arlan explained that over two years, the central and provincial governments have disbursed Rp 985.19 billion. The state budget contributed Rp 911.98 billion, with the remainder coming from the Banten provincial budget.
“The total investment for the construction and rehabilitation of irrigation networks in Banten Province throughout 2025-2026 amounts to approximately Rp 985.19 billion, consisting of Rp 911.98 billion from the state budget and Rp 73.21 billion from the Banten provincial budget,” he said.
The Banten Public Works Agency detailed that in 2025, the provincial government allocated Rp 48.91 billion through the regional budget for seven work packages for the rehabilitation and improvement of irrigation areas, including Cibinuangeun, Cilampe, Cikoncang, Cilemer, Cipari-Ciwuni, Cisangu Atas, and Cisata.
Meanwhile, through the 2025 state budget, the central government allocated approximately Rp 521.28 billion for the rehabilitation of 12 irrigation areas in Banten Province, namely Cikalumpang, Cisangu Bawah, Cipari-Ciwuni, Ciwaka Bawah, Cisata, Cilemer, Cisangu Atas, Pasir Eurih, Cikoncang, Cibinuangeun, Cisiih, and Cibanten.
For 2026, the Banten Provincial Government has again allocated approximately Rp 24.30 billion through the regional budget for the construction of the Cisiih Irrigation Weir, rehabilitation of the Cilampe Irrigation system, and the normalisation and rehabilitation of irrigation in Pangkalan Village, Teluknaga.
Meanwhile, the central government, through the 2026 state budget, has allocated Rp 390.70 billion to continue the rehabilitation of nine irrigation areas, namely Cibinuangeun, Cisata, Cilemer, Cibanten, Cikoncang, Cikalumpang, Pasir Eurih, Cisiih, and Ciwaka Bawah.
