Government Demands Thorough Investigation into Assault on Andrie Yunus
Jakarta — The government has expressed profound concern over the incident involving the dousing of alleged caustic liquid on Andrie Yunus, deputy coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), on Thursday 12 March in the evening in Jakarta. The government strongly condemns all forms of violence against citizens who uphold the law, humanitarian values, and democratic principles.
The Vice President’s Special Staff, Tina Talisa, stated that President Prabowo Subianto has given clear instructions to law enforcement authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly in a professional, transparent manner and in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
“The state has an interest in ensuring that every act of violence against citizens is handled seriously and fairly,” she said on Sunday 15 March 2026.
“Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka has also expressed attention and deep concern over this incident, whilst emphasising the importance of ensuring the safety of every citizen and maintaining a healthy and open democratic space,” she continued.
Talisa stated that the government ensures the victim receives necessary medical treatment and recovery support, whilst continuing to monitor developments in the ongoing legal process.
“The state is committed to continuing to strengthen protection for citizens and ensuring that democratic space remains safeguarded. All parties are expected to place trust in the legal process that is underway and together maintain a conducive situation,” she concluded.
