Government declares 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah to fall on Saturday, 21 March 2026
The government, through the sidang isbat on Thursday (19/3) evening, has determined that the celebration of 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah will fall on Saturday, 21 March 2026. Observations of the hilal were conducted across various locations in Indonesia. Members of the Falakiyah Institute of the Nahdlatul Ulama DKI Jakarta Regional Board used traditional Rubuk Mujayab tools to observe the hilal at Hasyim Asyari Mosque, Jakarta, on Thursday (19/3/2026). Similarly, team members used telescopes for observations at the same mosque. In Sukoharjo, visitors observed the hilal’s position using telescopes during the Rukyatul Hilal activity at the Observatory of the Modern Islamic Pesantren Pondok (PPMI) Assalaam, Pabelan, Kartasura, Central Java, on Thursday (19/3/2026). In Bandung, observers used telescopes from the tower of the Faculty of Medicine building at the Islamic University of Bandung (UNISBA) campus, West Java, on Thursday (19/3/2026). BMKG personnel monitored the hilal’s position with telescope equipment at the BMKG Hilal Observation Building in Afe Taduma Village, Ternate, North Maluku, on Thursday (19/3/2026).
