Government declares 1 Ramadhan 1447 H falls on Thursday, 19 February 2026

The government has officially determined that 1 Ramadhan 1447 Hijriah falls on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs made the declaration in accordance with the results of the Isbat Session held on Tuesday evening.

Hilal (new crescent moon) sighting officers conducted observations at numerous locations across Indonesia to determine the start of Ramadhan 1447 Hijriah. Observation posts included the Loang Baloq Beach Tourism Park in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara; the Darussalam Grand Mosque tower in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan; the Falak Science Observatory at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara in Medan, North Sumatra; the Faculty of Medicine building tower at Universitas Islam Bandung in Bandung, West Java; the Observatory at Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar in Makassar, South Sulawesi; and the Cikoneng Anyer Lighthouse in Serang Regency, Banten.

Personnel from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Region IV Makassar and the hilal observation team from the Indonesian Islamic Da’wah Institute (LDII) Banten were among those participating in the moon sighting exercises using astronomical telescopes.
