Pariwisata is not just about destinations, but also about building connections, creating opportunities, and realising shared prosperity. As the global Muslim travel market continues to grow, destinations face the challenge of providing quality services, authentic experiences, and an inclusive environment that meets the evolving needs of Muslim travellers. This was stated by the Senior Advisor for Digital Transformation and Innovation in Tourism at the Ministry of Tourism, Iyung Masruroh, during a welcome dinner for the International Islamic Expo 2026 in Jakarta on Friday. Representing the Minister of Tourism, she said, ‘Indonesia is proud to be part of this positive momentum, with its rich cultural heritage, stunning natural beauty, diverse culinary traditions, and warm hospitality.’ According to Iyung, Indonesia offers a variety of travel experiences for visitors from around the world. The government is honoured that Indonesia was once again recognised in the Global Muslim Travel Index 2026 as the world’s second-ranked Muslim-friendly destination. This achievement reflects the joint efforts of the government and industry players. ‘I am confident that you all contribute to improving the quality and competitiveness of our tourism ecosystem. For us, this recognition serves as motivation to continue moving forward and strengthening collaboration with partners,’ she said. The Ministry of Tourism is committed to advancing quality tourism that creates meaningful experiences for visitors while delivering sustainable economic, social, and environmental benefits to local communities. Iyung added that the government continues to strengthen the Muslim-friendly tourism ecosystem in Indonesia by improving destination readiness, enhancing service quality and accessibility, and fostering closer collaboration with industry stakeholders. ‘We hope that the business networks formed during the International Islamic Expo 2026 will result in meaningful collaborations and long-term partnerships that benefit us all,’ she remarked. ‘Let us continue to work together to advance Muslim-friendly tourism as a driver of sustainable development, inclusive economic growth, and stronger people-to-people connections,’ she added. The International Islamic Expo 2026, running from Friday to Sunday, is a collaboration between PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk, PT Aliya Kreasindo as the organiser, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta.
