Government Completes B50 Biodiesel Tests at Power Plants
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — The government has completed trials of B50, a diesel fuel blend containing 50% biodiesel, in the power-generation sector. What were the results?
Eniya Listiani Dewi, Director General of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, said the trials had been completed. She has signed off on handling and blending guidelines. “It’s finished, so all the reports have been completed. The generator set ran for six months without any problems,” Eniya said at the Westin in Jakarta, as quoted on Monday (26 October 2026).
To support self-sufficiency in B50, the government is encouraging domestic methanol production. This includes supporting a methanol plant in Bojonegoro as a National Strategic Project (PSN).
“We support this to produce methanol domestically. Once it is available here, it will certainly be absorbed, because we need 2.1 million kilolitres, whereas national production is only 600,000 kilolitres,” Eniya said.
