Government Committed to Supporting Investors Contributing to Economic Growth

JAKARTA - Investment is one of the main components of a country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Increased investment can drive economic growth as it creates demand, enhances production capacity, and boosts public purchasing power. However, if investment is not balanced with workforce growth, structural unemployment may occur due to insufficient job creation. Additionally, investment can worsen income inequality if returns are unevenly distributed and no efforts are made to improve overall public welfare.

The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) is ensuring that investments made in Indonesia deliver a positive impact on the economy and advance domestic industry.

Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Deputy Head of BKPM Todotua Pasaribu, in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday (1/5), said the government is committed to providing support to investors who have contributed to Indonesia's economic growth, enabling their businesses to continue expanding.

"The government is here to ensure that investments already in place genuinely receive support to grow and remain sustainable. We are giving serious attention to investors who have demonstrated a positive impact on the economy, particularly in the regions where they operate," said Deputy Minister Todotua.

He explained that this is also part of the ministry's strategy to not only attract new investment but to provide full facilities and support to existing investors who have proven their contribution through job creation, technology transfer, and the strengthening of local industry.

A case in point is PT Lenovo Indonesia, which has met the Local Content Requirement (TKDN) provisions for its latest products, namely the Lenovo K14 Gen 3 and ThinkCentre Neo 50a Gen 5.

"We appreciate the collaboration between PT Sat Nusapersada and Lenovo Indonesia in manufacturing two of its new products in Indonesia, as well as complying with TKDN regulations. It is hoped that this collaboration can enhance the empowerment of the domestic industry," he said.

He noted that PT Lenovo Indonesia is a multinational technology company operating in more than 60 countries and selling its products in approximately 180 countries. Lenovo sells and manufactures various electronic goods in Indonesia, including PCs/notebooks, smart home devices, and data centre products. Since 2019, PT Lenovo Indonesia has partnered with PT Sat Nusapersada (Tbk) in the development of its products.
