The administration of President Prabowo Subianto is considered to have demonstrated a commitment to listening to various public aspirations through a dialogue and policy evaluation approach. The Executive Director of Kata Rakyat, Alwan Ola Riantobi, assessed that one indicator of the government’s openness is its willingness to open communication channels with various elements of society, including students. “What needs to be appreciated about the government is its willingness to accept and open a dialogue with demonstrators. This shows that Mr Prabowo’s administration is democratic and not anti-criticism,” Alwan said on Thursday, 25 June 2026. According to Alwan, the government’s open attitude is also reflected in its response to various recent economic dynamics. He assessed that the government chooses to listen to input from economic experts and the public before deciding on policy steps. “It must be understood that the weakening of the Rupiah and the decline in the IHSG are due to various factors, such as global economic conditions, war, rising world interest rates, political uncertainty, or a domestic economic slowdown. Therefore, the government’s response is adjusted to the main cause of the decline,” he said. Not only in the economic sector, Alwan also assessed that the government is showing a commitment to improving the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG), which is one of President Prabowo’s priority programmes. According to him, the government is not turning a blind eye to the various inputs that have emerged during the programme’s implementation. “Meanwhile, MBG is a form of Mr Prabowo’s commitment to fulfilling his campaign political promises. If there are shortcomings in the implementation of MBG, the government immediately carries out mitigation and creates room for future improvement,” he said. Alwan hopes that the space for dialogue opened by the government can be utilised constructively so that various issues can be resolved through communication and policy improvement. “Therefore, if the government has committed to improving and opening a space for dialogue, the escalation of mass actions should decrease and be stopped,” he added.
