Government cash aid
Government cash aid
From Republika
About 15.5 million poor families, or around 62 million people
will be receiving financial assistance of Rp 100,000 in cash from
the government. According to Sofyan Djalil, the Minister of
Communications and Information, the money would be distributed to
those entitled to the aid one week before the government raises
the price of fuel next October.
The aid money is chiefly aimed at relieving the people's
burden from the effect of the fuel price hike, in other words the
poor will be able to survive. The money will be directly sent to
the entitled recipients through the post offices or Bank Rakyat
Indonesia (BRI), and each recipient would keep a card to record
the transfer.
We should give our appreciation to the government's commitment
to help the poor in this way, and hope that the implementation of
the system will continue to work.
