Government Cancels Minyakita Price Cap Hike, Maintains at Rp 15,700

Trade Minister Budi Santoso confirmed that there is currently no increase in the highest retail price (HET) for the subsidised cooking oil product Minyakita. The price remains at Rp 15,700 per litre. “Until now, there has been no increase in the HET for cooking oil,” Budi stated at IPB University in Bogor, West Java, on Friday, 12 June 2026. He explained that the government had previously planned a price adjustment, but the policy has not been implemented as it still requires consideration of various conditions and market stability. “Previously, the requirement was that CPO prices must be stable and conditions must allow it, but until now, it has not increased,” he said.

The government is currently focusing on expanding the distribution of Minyakita to traditional markets through state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in the food sector, such as Bulog and IDFOOD. This measure aims to ensure the availability of affordable cooking oil for the public. The Trade Minister added that the food aid distribution scheme will also be adjusted. While some Minyakita supply was previously used for food aid programmes, future aid packages may utilise other brands of cooking oil.

The government is also urging producers to increase output of ‘second brand’ cooking oils, which serve as companion products to Minyakita. These alternatives are expected to provide more options for consumers while helping to maintain overall supply levels in the market. Budi noted that these second brand products are now increasingly available in traditional markets and easily accessible to the public.
