Government Boosts Minyakita Distribution to Stabilise Prices

Vice Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri stated that the government is continuing to encourage the smooth distribution of Minyakita in order to stabilise prices in public markets. This move comes as the average price of the people’s cooking oil has been monitored above the official Retail Price Ceiling (HET). Efforts to maintain prices are being carried out through cross-ministerial and institutional coordination during a meeting held at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs on Tuesday, 14 July 2026. “The HET for Minyakita is set at Rp 15,700 per litre, and the average price, if I am not mistaken, was monitored at around Rp 16,000,” Dyah said after the meeting. To ensure better monitoring of distribution, the government has previously altered the distribution scheme through Trade Minister Regulation Number 43 of 2025. This regulation requires that a minimum of 35 percent of Minyakita distribution be carried out by state-owned enterprises in the food sector, namely Bulog and ID Food. According to Dyah Roro, the current distribution share handled by Bulog and ID Food has already exceeded this minimum requirement. “It turns out that the realisation is now 51 percent through the food state-owned enterprises,” she said. She expressed hope that distribution could be maximised so that the stock of cooking oil in public markets remains secure. This price stabilisation effort is also part of an attempt to control inflation, particularly for disaster-prone areas that have the potential to experience increased inflation due to distribution constraints. In addition, the Ministry of Trade is currently continuing efforts to revitalise markets, which are also coordinated with other ministries and institutions. The government is ensuring that the supply of various commodities is safe, including several commodities that still depend on imports. Meanwhile, for domestic commodities, the government is also continuing to ensure that production is sufficient for public needs. “And for cooking oil, we are also monitoring its distribution,” she said. Citing price developments in the Ministry of Trade’s Market and Basic Needs Monitoring System, the average price of Minyakita is currently still above the HET. Indicators in the system show that as of 14 July 2026, the price reached Rp 15,866 per litre.
