Government Boasts Hajj Costs Have Dropped by Rp 7 Million Since Prabowo Era

JAKARTA - Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf showcased that the government of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has managed to reduce the Hajj costs for 2026 by up to Rp 7 million since the beginning of the term. Irfan stated that the Ministry of Hajj is striving to realise Prabowo’s hope of keeping Hajj expenses as low as possible. “For 2025, we can reduce the Hajj costs. If in 2024 the Hajj cost was Rp 94 million, then for 2025 we are reducing it to Rp 89 million. That means a drop of Rp 5 million,” Irfan said during a press conference at the Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (15/4/2026). Irfan explained that the amount pilgrims must pay is Rp 54 million, while the remaining Rp 33 million is paid as benefit value managed by BPKH. Furthermore, Irfan revealed that the Hajj budget totals around Rp 18 trillion. According to him, 55 percent of that budget is paid in riyal, 30 percent in dollars, and the rest in rupiah. “That means we also have to think about how the rupiah depreciation should not disrupt the Hajj pilgrims’ journey process,” he added.
