Government blocks 7,908 fake job adverts to protect jobseekers
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government, through the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) and the Ministry for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers/Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI), has cut off access to fake overseas job vacancy adverts in order to protect Indonesian jobseekers.
Between January and August 2026, the Komdigi and BP2MI cyber patrol teams successfully blocked access to 7,908 fake overseas job vacancy adverts.
“This shows that fraud disguised as job vacancies has become a serious threat to the public. We will not allow the digital space to become a means of deceiving jobseekers,” said Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid in Central Jakarta on Monday.
Meutya said that enforcement measures against similar fraudulent content would continue to be accelerated through collaboration across relevant ministries and agencies.
“We will continue to strengthen and speed up enforcement together with the relevant ministries and agencies. Perpetrators must not be free to exploit the digital space to find victims,” she asserted.
The Minister also urged the public to remain vigilant when receiving job offers via the internet, noting that verifying the authenticity of information is the key to preventing online fraud.
“The public must also make sure that job vacancy information comes from official channels before providing their data,” Meutya concluded.
She called on the public to promptly report suspicious content or indications of job vacancy fraud through official complaint channels. Komdigi has opened a complaint channel for fraudulent or negative content via aduankonten.id.
The aduankonten.id channel can be accessed free of charge by the public and only requires the creation of a simple account to report negative content in the digital space. The data required to create an account on the aduankonten.id site include a full name and an email address.
After creating an account, complainants will be asked to upload the link and a screenshot of the content or site they are reporting. Complainants are also asked to provide the reason for reporting the content or site.
