Government begins distributing rice and cooking oil assistance ahead of Eid
The food assistance programme for rice and cooking oil distribution has begun delivery to low-income communities, confirmed Rachmi Widiriani, Director of Distribution and Food Reserves at Bapanas, in Jakarta on Tuesday.
She stated that based on Bapanas directives to state-owned enterprise Perum Bulog, the distribution of strategic commodities as economic stimulus has commenced with figures showing 68,540 kilograms of rice and 13,708 litres of cooking oil delivered to 3,427 beneficiary families (KPM) as of 9 March.
“Bapanas together with Bulog, following the directives of President Prabowo Subianto and Bapanas Head Andi Amran Sulaiman, are here to serve the community. Food assistance will continue to be distributed, particularly ahead of Eid al-Fitr which the public will celebrate shortly,” she explained.
Provinces that have already commenced distribution of the food assistance include North Sumatra, East Java, Bali, Jambi, Banten, and South Sulawesi.
Bapanas is urging Bulog across all regions of Indonesia to begin implementing the rice and cooking oil food assistance distribution programme.
