Government Begins Disbursing Professional Allowances for Religious Education Teachers
Jakarta — The Ministry of Religion has begun disbursing Professional Teaching Allowances (TPG) in staged payments to religious education teachers in schools, including graduates of the 2025 Professional Teacher Education (PPG) programme within the Ministry of Religion.
This year, TPG has been allocated to 209,334 certified Islamic religious education teachers, including 91,028 teachers and supervisors who completed the PPG in the previous year.
Amien Suyitno, Director General of Islamic Education at the Ministry of Religion, stated that accelerating TPG disbursement represents the government’s commitment to improving teacher welfare. He emphasised that teacher welfare is non-negotiable given their crucial role in shaping the character and future of the nation’s youth.
“Improving the quality of human resources and teacher welfare are priorities of national development,” Amien said in a statement on Tuesday, 10 March 2026. “Teachers are the frontline force in shaping the character and future of our nation’s generation. Therefore, the government continues to ensure teacher welfare is adequately met. The disbursement of this professional allowance is a form of state recognition of teachers’ dedication and professionalism.”
Amien further explained that TPG disbursement to religious education teachers in schools occurs in stages according to established mechanisms. Nevertheless, the government will continue refining the professional allowance distribution system to ensure greater accountability, transparency, and targeting accuracy.
“We ensure that teachers who have met the requirements receive their entitlements properly,” he explained.
Beyond Islamic religious education teachers, the Ministry of Religion also distributes professional allowances to other religious education teachers as follows:
• 5,506 Christian religious education teachers (non-civil servants)
• 12,400 Catholic religious education teachers, comprising 8,569 civil servant teachers and 3,832 non-civil servant teachers
• 6,073 Hindu religious education teachers, comprising 4,982 civil servant teachers and 1,091 non-civil servant teachers
• 1,423 Buddhist religious education teachers, comprising 862 civil servant teachers and 561 non-civil servant teachers
