Government Begins Constructing Flats for Residents Along Senen Railway Tracks, Central Jakarta
Minister for Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait (Ara) stated that the government has begun constructing flats for residents living along the railway tracks in the Senen area, Central Jakarta.
“Following President Prabowo’s instructions after his visit to the field two weeks ago in the Senen area, construction has already started in the Kramat Street area,” Ara said during a press conference at the Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (6/4/2026).
In addition, Ara said that PT KAI is preparing around 500 housing units that will soon be processed.
“So the total is 824 units. We hope for that, but the ones in Senen might be built first, 324 units,” she said.
“So we build while following up later; the regulations we will prepare. Which ones can, for now there are quite a few that are rental in nature, yes, affordable rental prices,” Ara added.
Ara reported that for prospective occupants of these housing units, the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas is working with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) to ensure the units are targeted correctly.
Meanwhile, Ara revealed that President Prabowo Subianto has instructed that state-owned land in urban areas, especially those owned by PT KAI to Danantara, be prioritised for flats.
“At the end of this month, we will start together with the President Director of Kereta Api, planned to begin preparations for construction in Bandung city,” Ara added.
President Prabowo Subianto promised to build decent housing for the community living along the railway tracks in the Senen area, Jakarta, on Thursday (26/3/2026).
Prabowo emphasised this after conducting a direct inspection of the residents’ settlement area along the railway tracks around Senen Station, Central Jakarta.
“Hearing the aspirations of the people there, Insyaallah we will soon build decent housing for the community in that area quickly,” Prabowo stressed via an Instagram post, @prabowo, on Thursday night.
Prabowo said that building decent housing for the community is his determination as President of the Republic of Indonesia.
From his post, Prabowo walked through the settlement area around the railway tracks to chat and hear the residents’ aspirations.
Prabowo’s arrival was enthusiastically welcomed by residents who immediately crowded around him.
