Government Awards Paritrana Jamsos TK Award to Protect Workers
Social security for employment represents a tangible manifestation of the state’s presence in protecting workers from socio-economic risks. Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government has awarded the Paritrana Employment Social Security Award to 15 regional heads, business entities, and SMEs, in appreciation of their commitment and innovation in providing employment social security protection for workers in their respective areas. The award was presented directly by the Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, in Jakarta on Friday, to provincial governments, regency/city governments, villages, and business entities deemed excellent in implementing employment social security programmes in their regions. “Employment social security is a tangible manifestation of the state’s presence in protecting workers from socio-economic risks,” said Muhaimin Iskandar. This annual event, which has been held since 2017, serves as a strategic instrument for the government in encouraging cross-sectoral synergy to accelerate the realisation of Universal Coverage for Employment Social Security (UCJ). “Vulnerable workers face very high socio-economic risks. If they experience work accidents or pass away, their families are at risk of falling into new poverty. Therefore, the employment social security programme becomes an important safety net to maintain the continuity of their family life,” said Muhaimin Iskandar. He added that without social security protection, the risks of work accidents or death could push workers’ families into poverty. “The presence of employment social security ensures that workers’ families can continue their lives decently,” said Muhaimin Iskandar. Meanwhile, the President Director of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, Saiful Hidayat, expressed appreciation to all award recipients and emphasised the importance of strengthening cross-sectoral collaboration in expanding the coverage of employment social security protection. “Appreciation to all award recipients. This shows the importance of synergy between the central government, regional governments, the business world, village governments, and all stakeholders,” said Saiful Hidayat.
