Government: Avoid Lebaran Return Peak on 28-29 March, Maximise WFA
JAKARTA - The government, through the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), is urging the public who are returning from their hometowns to avoid the peak Eid al-Fitr return flow, predicted to occur on 28-29 March 2026. Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi also requested that the public maximise the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy to alleviate traffic density. “We urge the public returning from their hometowns to schedule their travel times by avoiding the peak return flow. The public can maximise the WFA time enforced by the government on 25, 26, and 27 March 2026 to avoid vehicle build-up on the Trans-Java Toll Road,” said Dudy in a statement from the Government Communication Agency, Wednesday (25/3/2026). “The public can utilise the Travoy application or the Jasa Marga Call Center,” he added. Furthermore, Dudy reminded logistics transport business owners to comply with the Joint Decree (SKB) on Traffic Regulation and Crossing during the 2026 Lebaran Transport Period. He stated that this step is important to maintain the smoothness of the return flow and the safety of road users. “I tirelessly call on logistics transport business owners to remain compliant with the operational restrictions for goods transport vehicles during the 2026 Lebaran Transport Period. This is very important to ensure that public mobility during the return flow period is safe, orderly, and smooth,” explained Dudy. For private vehicle users, the public is asked to rest periodically at the nearest rest area if feeling tired. Meanwhile, for public transport users, they are urged to follow the applicable provisions and maintain order while at transportation hubs. “A safe and smooth return flow requires support from all parties. Obey the rules, follow the instructions of the officers, and prioritise safety so that the entire public can return to their destinations safely, securely, and comfortably,” he added.
