Government Assures Smooth Hajj 2026 Preparations Despite Middle East War
Jakarta – Deputy Minister for Hajj and Umrah (Wamenhaj) Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak has assured that preparations for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage are proceeding smoothly amid the escalation of conflict in the Middle East region.
“Praise be to God, up to today there have been no obstacles in the preparations, either from the Indonesian side or from the Saudi Arabian side. God willing, the first departure of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims will begin on 22 April 2026,” said Wamenhaj Dahnil in his statement in Jakarta on Sunday, 29 March 2026.
At the start of his working visit to Saudi Arabia, his team conducted various direct checks on Hajj operational readiness as well as coordination with Saudi authorities.
He emphasised that the government continues to strive to ensure all stages of the Hajj implementation run optimally to provide a sense of security and comfort for the pilgrims.
In addition to ensuring technical readiness, Wamenhaj also invited all Indonesian people to join in praying for the smooth running of this year’s Hajj worship.
“We pray to Allah SWT that the 2026 Hajj implementation runs smoothly, safely, and comfortably for all pilgrims. We also ask for prayers from all Indonesian people so that all these processes are granted ease,” said Wamenhaj Dahnil.
On that occasion, he also stressed the importance of Hajj worship as a symbol of world peace, especially amid ongoing global conflict dynamics.
“We hope that the escalation of conflict in the Middle East can subside, so that the Hajj can take place safely. Hajj carries a strong message about peace, human equality, and protection for vulnerable groups such as women and children,” he explained.
According to him, the universal values in Hajj worship are hoped to inspire countries in conflict to prioritise dialogue and peace.
“Hajj must become an instrument to bring peace and safety for all humanity,” he added.
Wamenhaj also expressed his support for the Indonesian government’s efforts in promoting world peace.
“We pray that the various efforts carried out by President Prabowo Subianto in building dialogue among world leaders can bring global peace,” he stated.
Closing his statement, Wamenhaj Dahnil once again invited all people to continue praying for the smooth running of the 2026 Hajj implementation.
