ENERGY and Mineral Resources Minister (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia has reported to President Prabowo Subianto that fuel oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) reserves are in safe condition ahead of Eid 1447 Hijri/Eid 2026.

Bahlil stated that reserves of various fuel types are currently above minimum thresholds and thus able to meet public demand during the Eid holiday period.

“So I think for petrol matters, God willing it is clear, Mr President. Reserves ahead of Eid for all fuel and LPG, God willing it is safe, Sir,” Bahlil said based on his statement in Jakarta on Saturday (14 March).

During the Full Cabinet Session held in Jakarta on Friday (13 March), Bahlil explained that reserves of Special Duty Fuel (JBKP) RON 90 reached approximately 24.39 days.

Meanwhile, reserves of General Fuel (JBU) RON 92 were recorded at approximately 28 days and RON 98 at approximately 31 days.

For subsidised diesel, reserve capacity reached approximately 16.41 days, whilst CN 53 diesel was approximately 46 days and aviation fuel approximately 38 days.

Bahlil also stated that national LPG supply remains secure despite dynamics in the global distribution chain.

According to him, approximately 70–72% of Indonesia’s LPG imports come from the United States, approximately 20% from the Middle East, and the remainder from various other countries.

To anticipate supply uncertainty from the Middle East, the government has prepared several measures including opening additional supply opportunities from the United States and other countries such as Australia.

“By the end of this week we are receiving two cargo shipments from Australia for LPG,” Bahlil stated.

He added that diesel supply is relatively more stable as it is entirely produced domestically.

This situation is also supported by the operation of the Balikpapan Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) project in January 2026, which increases the capacity of national refineries.

The project is estimated to reduce petrol imports by approximately 5.5 million tonnes and diesel by approximately 3.5 million tonnes per year.

Going forward, the government continues to promote the development of oil refineries to increase domestic fuel production and reduce reliance on imports.

“If our crude oil lifting does not reach 1.6 million barrels per day, the difference between crude demand and our lifting capacity is what we import. So in future we will only import crude oil,” said Bahlil.

The government through the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has opened a National Crisis Centre for the ESDM sector as a monitoring and coordination centre for energy services during the exodus period.

Pertamina has increased fuel reserves by approximately 4 to 5 per cent during the Eid holiday period. Fuel supplies in certain regions are sourced from the Maos Fuel Terminal in Cilacap District.

Member of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives Ratna Juwita Sari has urged the government to strengthen national fuel reserves.

Head of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan has assured that the condition of national energy reserves, particularly fuel and LPG, remains at adequate levels.

Member of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives Nevi Zuairina has reminded of the importance of maintaining distribution stability and public trust regarding the availability of national fuel.
