Government approves proposal to exempt electronics from luxury sales tax
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government has approved the tariff team`s proposal to exempt electronic products from luxury sales tax (PPnBM), the team`s chief said.
"We have just discussed (the proposal to exempt) electronic products from PPnBM with the Finance Ministry. The proposal has been approved and will later be submitted to the finance minister," Erwidodo said on Tuesday.
Erwidodo, who is also chief of the research and development board at the Trade Ministry said the finance minister would discuss the proposal with the director general of taxation before endorsing it in a ministerial decree.
"The proposal is the same as yesterday (Monday). It only underwent minor change at the meeting of the technical team," he said.
So far, the government has exempted 21 inch television sets from PPnBM. The Trade Ministry proposed that the PPnBM exemptions also affect 43 inch television sets. (*)
