Government Announces Saudi Will Not Issue Hajj Furoda Visas for 2026

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has confirmed that Hajj Furoda visas will not be available for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage. Hajj Furoda, or Hajj Mujamalah, is a non-quota programme that uses official invitation visas from the Saudi Arabian government, rather than the quota allocated by Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs. This programme allows pilgrims to depart without the annual waiting queue.

“There are none, so this year Saudi is not issuing Hajj Furoda visas. Clearly, the legal visa is the Hajj visa,” said Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak in Jakarta on Thursday (9/4).

Dahnil reminded the public to critically assess the proliferation of promotions for instant Hajj departures on social media. He assessed that such practices risk leading the public into fraud schemes or illegal Hajj departures.

To anticipate this, Kemenhaj is preparing to establish a Task Force (Satgas) for Preventing Illegal Hajj in collaboration with the Indonesian National Police, which will focus on addressing various non-procedural departure methods.

“That’s what we want to prevent. If it continues to recur, the police will automatically take criminal action,” he said.

He emphasised that the official channels for Indonesians to perform the Hajj pilgrimage are only through two schemes: regular Hajj and special Hajj. Anything else does not comply with applicable regulations.

“There is no Hajj without queuing. Hajj definitely involves queuing,” he stressed.

Furthermore, Dahnil noted that the current waiting period for regular Hajj is around 26 years, shorter than the previous near-50 years in some regions. For special Hajj, the waiting period is around six years.

He also highlighted the term “Hajj Tenol” or departure without queuing as an indicator of illegal practices that the public must avoid.

On the other hand, the government continues to improve Hajj governance in line with directives from President Prabowo Subianto, including efforts to accelerate waiting times to more realistic levels.

The government urges the public not to be easily tempted by offers that do not follow procedures and to ensure Hajj registration is done through official channels to avoid losses and legal risks.
