The government, together with state-owned enterprises (SOEs), is accelerating the construction of relocation housing for residents along the railway embankment in the Senen area of Central Jakarta. A total of 324 housing units are being built as part of efforts to reorganise the area while providing decent accommodation. Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait, along with the Head of the SOE Management Agency (BP) Dony Oskaria, directly inspected the construction readiness on Thursday evening (2 April 2026). This inspection follows up on a previous coordination meeting held with several SOEs regarding land provision and housing construction. Maruarar expressed appreciation for the readiness of various parties to start the relocation housing construction. She assessed that the process is progressing quickly following the coordination meeting. “The process is already underway; some areas have even started clearing. Staff have begun working, and the designs have been provided with a clear plan,” said Ara, the PKP Minister’s nickname, quoted from an official statement on Friday (3 April 2026). She explained that the total housing to be built amounts to 324 units, which will be equipped with open spaces to support residents’ comfort. “In total, there are 324 units to be built here. There will also be open spaces for children to play. This is good cooperation; the land belongs to PT Angkasa Pura (Persero), and the construction is done collaboratively,” she added. In addition to Senen, the government plans to continue the relocation programme in other locations such as Tanah Abang and Kampung Bandan. “This shows that the state is present, SOEs are present, and there is support from various parties, including the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in permitting. This is good collaboration in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive for us to work quickly so that residents living along the railway embankment can soon occupy decent housing,” she explained. Meanwhile, Dony Oskaria assured that the housing construction has started as per the commitment. He stated that several construction SOEs have been deployed to accelerate the work. “Today, as per our promise yesterday, we have started the housing construction process. There are teams from Hutama Karya, PP, and WIKA working. Approximately 470 people have been deployed to this site. Our completion target is 15 June 2026, and it can be handed over soon to the residents in need,” said Dony Oskaria. He also emphasised that the housing being built is ground-level housing, not apartments, making it more suitable for the needs of the affected community. This construction is part of the government’s commitment to providing decent housing while organising the railway embankment areas to be more orderly, safe, and comfortable. Collaboration between the Ministry of PKP, BP SOEs, construction SOEs, and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is expected to accelerate the provision of housing for residents.
