Government and HK Synergy: Prabowo Reviews Recovery in Aceh Tamiang
President Prabowo Subianto has expressed appreciation for the accelerated post-disaster recovery in Aceh Tamiang Regency, which is now nearly 100% complete. Prabowo conveyed this after performing Eid al-Fitr 1447 H prayers with the community at Masjid Darussalam. This mosque is part of the Temporary Housing (Huntara) area in the Kebun Tj. Seumantoh region, Karang Baru Subdistrict, on Saturday (21/3). During his visit, Prabowo emphasised that all affected residents have now moved from refugee tents to more decent accommodations, either temporary housing or permanent residences. In addition to housing availability, Prabowo ensured that basic infrastructure such as electricity and social assistance has been fully channelled to the community. “Alhamdulillah, there are no more people in tents; they have all moved out 100%. Everyone has entered temporary or permanent housing. Electricity is also almost fully operational, with only five villages remaining across Aceh due to difficult terrain. All assistance has been distributed to the people,” Prabowo stated, as quoted on Saturday (21/3/2026). The success of this rapid transition from the emergency phase to recovery has been fully supported by PT Hutama Karya (Persero) (Hutama Karya) along with several other state-owned construction companies under Danantara coordination. Hutama Karya has played an active role in providing comprehensive Huntara areas along the Banda Aceh-Medan route. This Huntara area is designed as a self-sufficient environment where each housing unit measures 4.5 metres x 4.5 metres, meeting the minimum standards set by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB). The Huntara area not only serves as a shelter but is also equipped with integrated social facilities and supporting utilities. To support residents’ daily activities, Hutama Karya has ensured the availability of adequate sanitation facilities, communal kitchens, washing areas, and internet networks. Residents’ spiritual needs are also met through the presence of Masjid Darussalam, which serves as a centre for worship activities during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations. In addition to housing aspects, Hutama Karya has ensured the recovery of basic services through the Rantau Water Treatment Plant Operation, which supplies clean water at a capacity of 40 litres per second. The company has also completed the rehabilitation of connectivity infrastructure, such as the Lawe Mengkudu Bridge and Penanggalan Bridge, as well as the clearing of wooden materials in vital areas to ensure the restoration of residents’ mobility and logistics routes to normal. Acting Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, Hamdani, stated that all facilities in the Huntara area are fully functional to help the community recover more quickly. “Our focus is to ensure that the people of Aceh Tamiang can celebrate this victory day with a sense of safety and comfort. The Huntara we have built is equipped with electricity, clean water, and adequate internal road access. The presence of complete facilities is a tangible manifestation of Hutama Karya’s commitment to always be present in providing the best contributions to the community in every disaster response,” Hamdani emphasised. Prabowo also extended appreciation to all apparatus and ministries/institutions, including state-owned enterprises, which have worked exceptionally in assisting the people. Through this collaboration, the government has demonstrated its commitment to restoring the social and economic life of the affected community.
