Government Allocates Rp259.3 Trillion for Public Order and Security: Tackling Online Gambling and Narcotics
The government has prepared a budget of Rp259.3 trillion for the security and order function in the 2027 Draft State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (RAPBN).
The government has outlined eight priority output targets for the Security and Order Function next year.
“To support this policy direction, expenditure on the Security and Order Function in the 2027 fiscal year RAPBN is planned at Rp259,268.6 billion,” wrote Book II of the Financial Note, pages 4-44, as quoted on Thursday (20/8).
The eight planned outputs include: first, the fulfilment of special material equipment (almatsus); second, the handling of 396 conventional gambling cases and 84 online gambling cases; third, the handling of 381 narcotics crime cases.
Fourth, the handling of 24 human smuggling cases; fifth, integrity strengthening training for 1,100 civil servants and law enforcement officers; sixth, operations to handle and resolve asset recovery related to 50 cases.
Seventh, legal aid post services at the Administrative Court for 3,478 people; and finally, 28 counter-terrorism intelligence operations.
The budget for the Security and Order Function will be executed by several ministries and agencies, including the Supreme Court, the Attorney General’s Office, the State Intelligence Agency, the National Police, and the National Narcotics Agency.
Also included are the Corruption Eradication Commission, the National Disaster Management Agency, the National Counter-Terrorism Agency, the Ministry of Law, and the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections.
During the 2022-2025 period, the realised budget for the Security and Order Function grew at an average nominal rate of 11.5 percent, from Rp171.798 trillion in the 2022 fiscal year to Rp238.687 trillion in the 2025 fiscal year.
“The budget increase was mainly influenced by the development of National Police equipment and special materials as well as the procurement of facilities and infrastructure for the Attorney General’s Office,” according to Book II of the Financial Note.
