Government Allocates Rp10.3 Trillion to Accelerate Village Electricity Programme

The government has allocated a budget of Rp10.3 trillion for the first phase of 2026 to accelerate the implementation of the Village Electricity Programme. State-owned electricity company PT PLN (Persero) is strengthening collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the electricity access equalisation programme is well-targeted and reaches more communities. Acting Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Tri Winarno, stated that the acceleration of the Village Electricity Programme must be supported by accurate data to ensure effective implementation. The government is also engaging the Development and Finance Comptroller (BPKP) and the Attorney General’s Office to oversee the programme’s accountable execution. ‘Data validation is a crucial step to ensure no region is left behind in obtaining electricity access. We want to ensure that all locations genuinely needing electricity can be properly identified, so the Village Electricity Programme is precisely targeted and its benefits can be felt by the public,’ Tri said in Jakarta on Sunday. This commitment was reinforced through the Village Electricity Programme Alignment Forum, which brought together the government as regulator, law enforcement officials, regional governments, industry players, academics, associations, and PLN partners. The forum serves as a platform to synchronise steps, strengthen governance, and accelerate the implementation of the Village Electricity Programme across Indonesia. PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said that equalising electricity access must not remain a mere commitment but must be realised through concrete actions. According to him, the Village Electricity Programme is not only about building electricity networks but also about opening economic opportunities, improving the quality of life, and strengthening national energy resilience. ‘We appreciate President Prabowo Subianto and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia. Their directive is clear: to realise the fifth principle of Pancasila, Social Justice for All Indonesian People. This is not just a commitment, but must be manifested in real action,’ Darmawan said. Director of Strategic Electricity Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Andriah Feby Misna, said the government and PLN have prepared a Village Electricity Programme roadmap integrated with the New Electricity Connection Assistance Programme (BPBL). This integration is expected to accelerate the equal distribution of electricity access while helping underprivileged communities obtain electricity connections. As of April 2026, PLN has realised electricity access provision through state budget funding in 1,403 locations, serving 40,724 households. The government and PLN are targeting the expansion of the Village Electricity Programme to 2,792 locations by the end of 2026, with the potential to reach 137,266 prospective customers. Support from regional governments is also strengthening through the acceleration of permits and coordination to ensure the programme’s implementation stays on target.
