Government Allocates Rp10.3 Trillion to Accelerate Village Electricity Programme
JAKARTA – The government has allocated a budget of Rp10.3 trillion in the first phase of 2026 to accelerate the implementation of the Village Electricity Programme. PT PLN (Persero) is strengthening collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the electricity access equalisation programme runs on target and reaches more people.
Tri Winarno, Acting Director-General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), said the acceleration of the Village Electricity Programme must be supported by accurate data so that its implementation is effective. The government is also working with the Finance and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) and the Attorney General’s Office to safeguard the programme’s implementation in an accountable manner.
“Data validation is an important step so that no more regions are left behind in obtaining electricity access. We want to ensure that all locations genuinely in need of electricity are properly identified, so that the Village Electricity Programme is truly on target and its benefits can be felt by the community,” Tri said in Jakarta, quoted on Sunday (19 July 2026).
This commitment was reinforced through the Village Electricity Programme Alignment Forum, which brought together the government as regulator, law enforcement agencies, regional governments, industry players, academics, associations, and PLN’s working partners. The forum serves as a vehicle for aligning steps, strengthening governance, and accelerating the implementation of the Village Electricity Programme throughout Indonesia.
PLN Chief Executive Darmawan Prasodjo said equalising electricity access must not stop at being a commitment, but must be realised through concrete action. According to him, the Village Electricity Programme is not merely about building electricity networks, but also opens up economic opportunities, improves people’s quality of life, and strengthens national energy resilience.
“We appreciate the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia. Their direction is clear, namely to realise the fifth principle, Social Justice for All Indonesian People. This is not just a commitment, but must be realised in concrete action,” said Darmawan.
Andriah Feby Misna, Director of Strategic Electricity Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, said the government together with PLN has drawn up a roadmap for the Village Electricity Programme that is integrated with the Electricity New Connection Assistance Programme (BPBL). This integration is expected to accelerate the equalisation of electricity access while also helping low-income communities obtain electricity connections.
As of April 2026, PLN had realised the provision of electricity access through state budget funding at 1,403 locations serving 40,724 households. The government and PLN are targeting the expansion of the Village Electricity Programme to 2,792 locations by the end of 2026, with the potential to reach 137,266 prospective customers. Support from regional governments also continues to strengthen through accelerated permitting and coordination to ensure the programme runs according to target.
