Government Allocates Rp 9.5 Billion for Transmigration Area in Gorontalo
GORONTALO - The government has allocated a budget of around Rp 9.5 billion for the development of transmigration areas in Gorontalo Province in 2025. “There is a 2025 programme with a total of Rp 4.3 billion for Gorontalo Regency, Rp 3.9 billion for North Gorontalo Regency, and Rp 1.3 billion for the provincial Satker. So overall, it’s about Rp 9.5 billion,” said Deputy Minister of Transmigrasi Viva Yoga Mauladi during a visit to the Pulubala Transmigration Area in Gorontalo Regency on Wednesday (08/04/2026). “This is for schools, the construction of toilet facilities, rehabilitation of the UPT Hall, and improvement of non-status roads in the Bukit Aren UPT and the Pulubala area,” he added. Viva emphasised that President Prabowo Subianto has given special attention to the transmigration programme by establishing four main directives. First, to safeguard the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). In addition to maintaining territorial integrity, transmigration is also directed at strengthening social integration among citizens from various backgrounds through assimilation and cultural acculturation processes via inter-ethnic marriages. Transmigration also aims to eradicate poverty and support national food self-sufficiency. Furthermore, most transmigration areas are rice production centres. Therefore, the government hopes that transmigration areas will also contribute to realising food self-sufficiency. Further, Viva emphasised that transmigration is also directed at creating new economic growth centres in various regions. He noted that since the era of President Soeharto until now, the transmigration programme has produced thousands of villages to several new provinces. On that occasion, Viva also reminded the community to utilise the Certificates of Ownership Rights (SHM) that have been given wisely. “There are 109 SHM that have already been handed over. Don’t destroy them. They must not be sold, okay?” said Viva.
