Government Allocates Rp 4 Trillion Monthly for 96.8 Million PBI BPJS Health Participants
Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf, known as Gus Ipul, revealed that the government is preparing a budget of Rp 4.06 trillion per month for the Penerima Bantuan Iuran (PBI) programme of BPJS Kesehatan or Health Insurance (JK). This budget is utilised for the PBI BPJS Kesehatan programme, which has 96.8 million participants. “The rupiah value deposited each month by the Ministry of Health to BPJS is more than Rp 4 trillion per month, and over a year, more than Rp 48 trillion. This is the allocation for PBI JK,” said Gus Ipul during a working meeting with Commission IX of the DPR, at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/4/2026), quoted from the Youtube broadcast of TVR Parlemen. Gus Ipul stated that only people in deciles 1 to 5 are eligible to become PBI BPJS Kesehatan participants. In that meeting, Gus Ipul also conveyed that 2.1 million Penerima Bantuan Iuran (PBI) BPJS Kesehatan participants have been reactivated or become active again. This reactivation is one of the government’s efforts in responding to the deactivation of 11 million PBI BPJS Kesehatan participants in February 2026. “At the beginning of 2026, from the 11 million deactivated, some have been reactivated, including participants with catastrophic diseases. The total that have become active again reaches around 2.1 million participants,” said Gus Ipul. In more detail, he stated that 305,864 people have become active again as PBI JK participants. Furthermore, 1,418,456 are in the type of participants who are Non-Wage Workers and Non-Regional Government Workers (PBPU/BP Pemda). “So the total that remain active as BPJS Kesehatan participants through various segments from the 11 million is 2,155,665 beneficiaries,” said Gus Ipul.
