JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto revealed that the government has allocated Rp 1.77 trillion from the state budget to cover Hajj costs for 2026.

He explained that the rise in avtur prices has impacted Hajj costs, as aircraft are used for transportation.

“One of the adjustments is the avtur price, which is accompanied by PPN DTP (Value Added Tax borne by the government), so the ticket price increase is only 9-13 percent. However, there is also an impact on Hajj fees,” Airlangga stated during a press conference at the Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

However, for 2026, due to the avtur price increase, Airlangga said the government is holding Hajj fees steady without any rise.

“As we know, Hajj fees have been reduced by Rp 2 million. The impact of the avtur price increase is absorbed by the government. So there is no increase in Hajj costs,” he clarified.

“This is absorbed for the 220,000 participants who will join, the Hajj pilgrims. The Rp 1.77 trillion budget is borne by the state budget. Thus, there is no impact on the Hajj participants,” Airlangga added.

In fact, the current avtur price is rising from Rp 13,656 per litre to Rp 23,551 per litre.

“What we have decided, which I can announce now, is the implementation of Hajj in 2026, unless the Saudi Arabian government decides otherwise. If we proceed, we ensure that the Hajj costs for 2026 are reduced by around Rp 2 million,” said Prabowo during a briefing at the Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
