Government Allocates Rp 1.54 Trillion for Transport Ticket Discounts
Minister of Transport Dudy Purwagandhi announced that the government has allocated a budget of Rp 1.54 trillion for a transport ticket discount programme during the school holiday and Christmas and New Year (Nataru) periods to support public mobility. During the school holiday period, the government will provide a 30 percent discount on train tickets from 20 June to 5 July 2026. There will also be a 30 percent discount on the base fare for ships from 20 June to 15 August 2026, and a waiver of port service fees at ASDP from 20 June to 5 July 2026. The total budget allocation for this period is Rp 190.5 billion, targeting 3 million passengers. Additionally, the government is providing a 100 percent Government-borne Value Added Tax (PPN DTP) incentive for domestic economy-class flight tickets, with a budget allocation of Rp 472.7 billion targeting 2.3 million passengers. For the Nataru period, the government will again offer a 30 percent discount on train tickets from 22 December 2026 to 4 January 2027, a 30 percent discount on the base fare for ships from 17 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, and a waiver of port service fees at ASDP from 22 December 2026 to 10 January 2027. The total allocation for this period is Rp 161.4 billion, targeting 2.8 million passengers. The 100 percent PPN DTP incentive will also be reapplied for domestic economy-class flight tickets with a budget of Rp 722 billion and a target of 3.7 million passengers during the Nataru period. The total budget prepared by the government for transport incentives and discounts across these two major periods amounts to Rp 1.54 trillion.
