Government Allocates Phase II Funds to Repair Disaster-Affected Houses
The government has allocated stimulus funds for repairing damaged houses in Phase II to communities affected by disasters in Aceh Tamiang Regency. This step is part of the government’s efforts to accelerate the repair of homes affected by hydrometeorological disasters in Sumatra, particularly those with minor and moderate damage.
The handover of the aid took place in a hybrid format from the Aceh Tamiang Regent’s Office Complex, Aceh, today. The handover was led by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno, accompanied by Interior Minister (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian.
The two also witnessed virtually the handover of aid for repairing damaged houses in Central Tapanuli Regency, led by the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto.
Previously, the government had handed over Phase I aid on 13 February 2026, led by Pratikno from North Tapanuli, followed by the Interior Minister in Aceh Tamiang and the BNPB Head in Lhokseumawe.
Tito Karnavian, who also serves as Chairman of the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Kasatgas PRR) Post-Sumatra Disaster, emphasised that the government has prepared a structured aid scheme from the outset based on the level of damage to residents’ homes, ranging from minor, moderate, to severe or lost.
He explained that for homes with minor and moderate damage, aid is provided through the respective BNPB in the amount of Rp15 million and Rp30 million. Meanwhile, handling of severely damaged homes is carried out through various schemes, including the construction of temporary housing (huntara) and permanent housing (huntap) involving ministries, agencies, and support from non-governmental parties.
“Our principle is to provide aid as quickly as possible, as quickly as possible, why? So that those affected can truly repair their homes and regain their spirits,” he stated, quoted from a press release on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
He added that the government is implementing a phased data collection system so that aid can be disbursed immediately without waiting for all affected areas to complete data collection. This step is considered important to prevent homes that were initially minor or moderate damage from worsening due to delays in handling.
On the other hand, the government continues to open opportunities for submissions in the next phase for communities that have not yet been recorded, still through strict verification processes to ensure aid reaches the right targets.
“Thus, we hope that all those affected can truly receive aid from the government,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Pratikno explained that the total aid provided in Aceh Tamiang and Central Tapanuli on this occasion amounted to Rp117.96 billion, given to around 4,469 household heads (KK), both those with minor and moderate house damage.
He revealed that to date, the total central government aid provided to communities in the three affected provinces amounts to Rp654.87 billion for 29,786 KK.
“This is aid for minor and moderate damaged houses for the three provinces. So, ladies and gentlemen present here, please use this aid well,” Pratikno concluded.
On this occasion, also present were Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhlullah, Aceh Tamiang Regent Armia Fahmi, Director General of Regional Administration Development (Adwil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Safrizal ZA, Rector of the Institute of Domestic Government (IPDN) Halilul Khairi, and other related officials.
