The Jakarta Provincial Tourism and Creative Economy Agency aims to showcase Jakarta as an open and peaceful city through the ‘Illumination of Jakarta, Glow of Peace’ event.

The event will take place at Bundaran HI from 28 May to 1 June 2026 to commemorate Vesak Day 2570 BE.

“Vesak 2026 is a crucial part of presenting Jakarta as an open, peaceful city full of togetherness,” said Jakarta Provincial Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Head Andhika Permata in a government press release on Sunday.

He explained that the ‘Illumination of Jakarta, Glow of Peace’ event includes spiritual, cultural, and social activities involving Buddhist communities, interfaith groups, creative economy players, and the general public.

Prayer and meditation sessions, cultural art performances, light installations, and cultural attractions will be held during the event, organised in collaboration with the Indonesian Buddhist Association (PERMABUDHI) and the Indonesian Buddhist Representative Body (WALUBI).

“Through cross-sector collaboration, we hope this event will provide meaningful cultural and spiritual experiences for the public while supporting the growth of Jakarta’s tourism and creative economy sectors,” said Andhika.

Jakarta Provincial Tourism and Creative Economy Agency’s Marketing and Attractions Head Lucky Wulandari stated that the art installations and lighting at Bundaran HI are expected to attract tourists and convey messages of peace during Vesak Day.

For the Vesak 2570 BE/2026 celebration, the Jakarta Provincial Government hopes the public will continue to maintain unity and harmony in daily life, making Jakarta a safe, comfortable, and welcoming shared space for all.
