Government Accelerates Deregulation and Downstreaming to Pursue Market Confidence

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has detailed a series of government efforts to garner market confidence amidst geopolitical challenges, including deregulation and maintaining stability.

Prasetyo stated that over the past two weeks, the government has been working to strengthen coordination and cooperation, particularly by adopting policies expected to bolster the investment climate, market perception, and public perception.

“The President [President Prabowo Subianto] has re-emphasised several points which, in our opinion, are also part of the effort to provide confidence to economic actors, which will ultimately provide confidence to the public,” Prasetyo said during a press conference at the Presidential Office on Monday (15/6/2026).

A number of measures are being undertaken by the government, including those related to deregulation. According to Prasetyo, Prabowo has repeatedly stated that the government must continuously strive to simplify licensing procedures. The goal is to make the investment climate develop and allow the economic ecosystem to grow much more competitively.

Prasetyo also said that President Prabowo has asked Danantara CEO and Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani to boost Indonesia’s export performance. He noted that the strengthening of the rupiah currency cannot be separated from export and import performance.

In an effort to boost exports, the government is continuing to push downstreaming and industrialisation. According to Prasetyo, this policy aims to reduce dependence on imported goods while creating added value from domestic processing.

He expressed hope that products generated through the downstreaming and industrialisation process can increase the wealth of the nation and state. Additionally, he considers stability to be the most important factor in maintaining the business climate.

“Therefore, we as the government invite everyone, all members of society, all market players, and all economic actors to join hands, work together, and work hard to restore, recover, and strengthen our economy,” Prasetyo concluded.
